famous consulting detective, played by the great English actor
Ben Wright. Douglas McEwan is interviewed during the hour about
the 1976 recording. McEwan explains: ''I was hired as a writer,
having been connected through to it by Sean Wright of the
Sherlock Holmes Society. Daws took to my writing style
immediately, and after hearing me read back pieces I wrote for
it, hired me on to act in it as well. Daws and Mike Hodel, who
plays Watson, and I all stayed good friends for the rest of
their lives. I'm Oscar Wilde and Dracula in this show.''
