Final Cuts & The Laugh Makers
FINAL CUTS: THE LAST FILMS
OF 50 GREAT DIRECTORS
by Nat Segaloff
Critic-producer Nat Segaloff was granted access to private papers, production records, never-before-published interviews, and specialized archives in reconstructing the colorful, touching, and sometimes scandalous stories behind the making of the last films of some of Hollywood’s top directors. Winningly readable and yet meticulously researched, its substantial entries range from Robert Aldrich and Robert Altman to Peter Yates and Fred Zinnemann, and John Ford and Howard Hawks to Otto Preminger and Richard Brooks.
Certain to attract controversy because of whom it ignores as well as whom it includes, Final Cuts presents fifty widely varied chronicles of success and failure, inspiration and ennui, elation and heartache, and every other emotion enjoyed or endured by the greatest filmmakers that Hollywood ever knew.

The Voice Actor Show with Joe Bev
Interviews with top voice actors. Produced & Hosted by Joseph Bevilacqua
THIS MONTH'S SHOW:
Guest June Foray &
Blast from the Past: June Foray with Stan Freberg
"Like millions of people, I've been listening to June Foray for most of my life. I remember when I first encountered Rocky and Bullwinkle in their first season on TV, and falling under the spell of Jay Ward's sharply-written, wonderfully performed cartoons.
What I can't remember is when I learned that the same woman who provided the voice of Rocky also acted as Natasha, Nell, and a host of other characters on the series, including the gravely-voiced fairy godmother who was patterned after character actress Marjorie
Main. But as a diehard cartoon fan, it didn't take me long to memorize the names of the actors in the show's credits (fleeting though they were).
"Around the same time I became enamored of Stan Freberg's comedy records, including such hit singles as "St. George and the Dragonet" and classic albums like Stan Freberg Presents the United States of America. The rich, colorful voices on those records became permanently ingrained in my consciousness, and in time I connected the dots and realized that June, Paul Frees, and Daws Butler were the same people I heard on so many cartoon soundtracks."

What the Critics Say "Old-time Radio Parodies is up to the usual Waterlogg Productions high standards, featuring a full cast of talented voice actors, and cinema quality music and sound effects. I promise you’ll never be disappointed with how a Waterlogg Production sounds. They even have parodies of commercials like Shouty-O’s (shout for Shouty-O’s!) cereal, and Blue Coal Tires (the only tires you can burn in your furnace after they go flat). We’re talking three hours of non-stop laughs here. Don’t miss out!"

Joe Bev says of his cast:
"Lorie Kellogg is not only a great voice artist who can play woman, man, girls, boys, frogs, trees, chairs, or anything... she also comes up with half the funny plots we improvise!"
"Jim Folly is the funniest man alive! Jim has been a member of our troupe Liquid Comedy since we formed it in 1979. Jim is Don Rickles, Chico Marx and Allen Jenkins all rolled into one!"
"Kenny Savoy can do voices and read a script as well as any actor I know, but what makes Kenny special is is bright open upbeat personality. He lifts the energy of everyone he meets. Kenny is also a great improviser."

The Joe Bev Experience...
Louis Armstrong's New Orleans, with Wynton Marsalis: A Joe Bev Musical Sound Portrait
PODCAST:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id627773341
Joe Bevilacqua hosts this entertaining, informative hour, recorded in the French Quarter of New Orleans and featuring jazz great Wynton Marsalis, jazz author and historian Donald Newlove, WNYC Radio talk show host Leonard Lopate, members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and others, on the origins of jazz, and the life and music of legendary trumpeter Louis Armstrong. Also featured is the music of Armstrong throughout his long career, and rare recordings, including audio from a 1957 CBS TV documentary with Edward R. Murrow.
What the Critics Say
''Informational, polished, sound-rich, Joe Bevilacqua strikes again with this superb documentary on the life and music of Louis Armstrong. The rich tapestry of music, interviews, and sound from the streets of New Orleans is expertly produced. In addition to some rare recordings, the program includes interviews with Wynton Marsalis and others that really add to what is primarily a music program, rather than detract from the focus of the program. The sound quality is excellent, and the vintage recordings have been cleaned up well. The program is both entertaining and informative, and held my interest for the entire hour. I highly recommend it.'' (Phil Corriveau, Wisconsin Public Radio)

starring Wallace Beery, Ford Sterling, and ZaSu Pitts—the first film adaptation of the poem.
There have been two animated film adaptations of the poem by Walt Disney: "Casey at the Bat" (1946), which uses the original text (but set in 1902 according to the opening song's lyrics, instead of 1888). This version is recited by Jerry Colonna.
