The Comedy-O-Rama Hour
"The Wedding of
Ellis & Elise" part 3
Comedian Judy Tenuta improvises with Joe Bevilacqua (Joe Bev) and Lorie Kellogg on this week's edition of The Comedy-O-Rama Hour.

"We are creating a fully realized storyline every week, with continuing characters, sound effects, music, full production values... plus we're funny!" says Bev, who performs nearly half the characters on the show, including Ellis the Boatkeeper, Sgt. Lefty, Adam Maxwell, Lil Orphan Andy, and others.

His wife and creative partner Lorie Kellogg also performs many characters on the show, including Elise, Olive Pitts, Mrs. Cowlick, Ellis & Elise's mother, Lkie, Mrs. Terwilliger and others.

The husband and wife team record the comedy hour from their home and surrounding woods of Napanoch, NY. The show takes place at Camp Waterlogg, a fictional kids camp in the Catskills. Their border collie Sophie, two cats Sunrise and Offica Pup and 17 chickens often make it into the audio of the show.

For the wedding trilogy, Bev and Kellogg enlisted the help of Kenny Savoy and James Folly, members of the Liquid Comedy troupe since 1979. Savoy plays Cousin Kenny, Peter Moss, Dufus and others. Folly is heard as Ron Drydale, Lil Jimmy, Reverend Cowlick and more.

"The Aphrodite of the Accordion," as she calls herself, is comic Judy Tenuta. She was raised in Oak Park, Ill. and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in theater. Best known for her brash, offbeat humor, she was the first stand-up to win Best Female Comedian at the American Comedy Awards and has released three CDs, two of which were nominated for a Grammy. Tenuta also has released books including The Power of Judyism and Full Frontal Tenudity. She has appeared in her own comedy specials on HBO, Showtime and Lifetime. More about Tenuta and her comedy can be found on her website, www.judytenuta.com.

The Joe Bev Audio Theater, a half-hour anthology representing more than forty years of storytelling by Joe Bevilacqua (Joe Bev), the veteran, award-winning actor, writer, producer, director.

Joe Bev created his characters of Willoughby and the Professor in 1971 when he was 12. By the age of 13, he was improvising full half-hour radio plays from his bedroom in Iselin, NJ.

"I would make up stories, do all the voices, make up sound effects, and add music from 78 record I found in my parent attic," explains Bevilacqua, now 54.

His boyhood improvisations turned into a career that has taken him into every aspect of show business, including stage, film and television, as a producer, director, writer, actor, and even cartoonist.

Not content to hide behind his microphone, Bevilacqua will be seen acting in the upcoming feature films: "The Green Blade Rises" directed A.J. Edwards, "The Fly Room" directed by Alexis Gambis, "Cold in July" directed by Jim Mickle, and "Hits" directed by David Cross.

Joe Bev can do hundreds of voices, dialects and impressions. For the upcoming movie "The Fly Room," he not only portrayed the on screen character of Uncle Dwight, he was personally commissioned by the director Alexis Gambis, to act as vocal coach to the cast during the entire shoot and wrote, produced and voiced a number of audio sound beds in the style of old time radio for use in the film.

"Descendants of Laurel and Hardy and Holmes and Watson, among others, Willoughby and the Professor bring radio listeners along on a series of adventures, often in exotic lands and always in the more exotic land of the imagination. Judging from the hundreds of letters WNYC Radio has received about 'Willoughby,' a couple of characters who can go anywhere in the world while remaining inside the listener's radio and head is just the ticket."(David Hinckley, New York Daily News)

Waterlogg Productions and Imagine Science Films announced a new weekly online video podcast: Science-O-Rama with Joe Bev, 6-minute short subjects based on Popular Science magazine articles spanning the 1920-60s.
