"The Ad Game" is a radio drama written by Daws Butler, produced and
directed by Joe Bevilacqua, with the cast: Joe Bevilacqua, Elizabeth
Jackson, John Fernandez, and William Evans.
In this series, host Joe Bevilacqua presents performances of scripts Butler wrote for his acting workshop. Daws Butler was the master of voice. His was the voice behind most of the classic Hanna-Barbera characters: Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Quickdraw McGraw, Elroy Jetson, and a hundred others. He also originated the vocal character of Cap’n Crunch and other famous Jay Ward cartoon characters. His significant work with Stan Freberg in the 1950s on The Stan Freberg Show and multimillion-selling records such as “St. George and the Dragonet” are still held in reverence today. He also ran a voice acting workshop for many years. Among his many successful students are Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson, and Corey Burton, from Closet Cases of the Nerd Kind. The 6 full hour audio title is for sale at : http://www.downpour.com/what-the-butler-wrote-1.
Chapter 4: Radio, part one: Camp Copake, early radio, Joe Palooka, Fanny Brice, War of the Worlds The autobiography of the voice of Fred Flintstone is brought to life by veteran radio theater producer Joe Bevilacqua and Alan Reed, Jr., featuring rare interviews with Alan Reed himself, an interview with Joe Barbera, and clips from Reed’s radio, television, and film career, including The Fred Allen Show, The Shadow, The Life of Riley, Life with Luigi, Duffy’s Tavern, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Viva Zapata, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and The Flintstones.
