My dad bought me a Panasonic cassette recorder in 1971, I was 12 years old.

It was the beginning of summer. June. Last day of school. The smell of cut grass as a walk up our driveway. Clear blue sky. Sun on my face and arms. Dad trimming a bush in front of our house.

I remember the day so well because it was the day my future was set. I soon became an audio artist.

I had been drawing a series of silly nine panel cartoons of Willaby and the Professor, as I called them then. Hundreds of pages. Serialized. In Hanna-Barbera style. Ring around the mouth.

Now I had a way to record their voices!

Men, women, young, old, babies, dogs, cats, otters, every accent on the planet poured out of my mouth.

Within a few years, I was on the radio. Reel to reel. Stereo. Digital. 3-D.

On the ringtones: When Ben approached me with the idea of doing my father's voices for ring tones, I just couldn't turn it down. It seems a lot of people still want to hearthose familiar characters enough to carry them around on their mobile devices. We'll probably do more them in the future.

Ben's comments:

Ringtones: I've been a Huge fan of comedy all my life, and was intrigued, browsing around amazon, that there were companies doing whole comedy ringtone albums. Obviously, a ringtone isn't just music! Also, way back, I had the Monty Python's Complete Waste of Time game, which included a trillion sound bytes you could use for computer sounds. Plus answering machine messages. So I thought, why not do an album of funny voices for a plethora of uses. The trouble was, we came up with enough for 3 albums' worth! We'll do a 3rd one soon.
