Funny men Joe Bev and Bob Greenberg will help celebrate the 90th birthday of the Lafayette with their live rendition of classic comedy skit Who's On First? made famous by Abbott and Costello, before the 3D showing of the iconic MGM film.

"We'll be in 3D too!" jokes Greenberg, who first teamed with Bev a mere two years for the Vaudeville in the Catskills live stage show. Since then, the comic duo have won the annual Coney Island Talent Shows, the 2012 New York State TANYS Award, and are currently touring throughout New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

"We plan on conquering Connecticut next," enthuses Bev, who notes an obscure connection between Abbott and Costello and The Wizard of Oz: "In the movie, Bert Lahr as the Cowardly Lion does a joke that ends with 'Talk me out of it'. This joke was used a number of times by Lou Costello in movies, on TV and radio. It's a joke that goes back to minstrel shows, Burlesque and Vaudeville.

Bud and Lou also worked with Judy Garland on stage and radio.

ABBOTT & COSTELLO
DOING :WHO"S ON FIRST?"
From the film The Naughty Nineties (1945)
"Who's on First?" is descended from turn-of-the-century burlesque sketches that used plays on words and names. Examples are "The Baker Scene" (the shop is located on Watt Street) and "Who Dyed" (the owner is named Who). In the 1930 movie Cracked Nuts, comedians Bert Wheeler and Robert Woolsey examine a map of a mythical kingdom with dialogue like this: "What is next to Which." "What is the name of the town next to Which?" "Yes." In English variety halls (Britain's equivalent of vaudeville theatres), comedian Will Hay performed a routine in the early 1930s (and possibly earlier) as a schoolmaster interviewing a schoolboy named Howe who came from Ware but now lives in Wye. By the early 1930s, a "Baseball Routine" had become a standard bit for burlesque comics across the United States. Abbott's wife recalled Bud performing the routine with another comedian before teaming with Costello.
